Nothing on dont-trust-verify.com is financial advice. This disclaimer applies to every page, tool, guide, review, comparison, and Q&A entry on the site. Please read it carefully before using any content for decision-making.

Not financial advice

The operator of this site (an independent software developer) is not a licensed financial advisor, investment advisor, broker, or financial planner in any jurisdiction. The content on this site — including but not limited to guides, reviews, tool outputs, and editorial commentary — is produced for educational and informational purposes only.

Nothing on this site should be construed as:

We don't tell you when to buy or sell

This site has a strict editorial policy against price predictions and market timing advice. You will not find "buy now," "this is the bottom," or "target price" language anywhere on this site. If you find it, please report it through the contact form — it shouldn't be there.

Dollar-cost averaging calculators and stacking plans on this site are mathematical tools that illustrate the mechanics of regular purchases. They are not recommendations to DCA into Bitcoin. The decision of whether, when, and how much to invest in any asset is entirely yours to make based on your own financial circumstances and risk tolerance.

Tool outputs are educational illustrations

The calculators, decoders, and validators on this site perform mathematical operations based on the inputs you provide. Outputs are illustrative of how the calculations work. They are not guarantees of actual outcomes. Specifically:

Bitcoin is volatile; you can lose money

Bitcoin's price has declined by more than 80% on multiple occasions in its history. It has also recovered and reached new highs — but past recoveries do not guarantee future ones. If you invest in Bitcoin, you must be prepared for the possibility that you could lose a substantial portion or all of your investment.

Self-custody, while recommended for Bitcoiners who understand the responsibility it entails, also introduces risk: lost seed phrases, hardware failure, theft, and user error have caused permanent loss of funds for many people. The guides on this site aim to minimize these risks, but they cannot eliminate them. Self-custody is not appropriate for everyone.

Past performance does not predict future results

Any charts, historical data, or backtested scenarios presented on this site are for educational illustration only. Bitcoin's historical appreciation from its early days to the present is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Markets can and do behave in ways that no historical model predicts.

Affiliate disclosure

This site participates in affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link to a product (such as a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet, Swan Bitcoin, Strike, or Bitrefill) and make a purchase, the site may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the top of any page or review where they apply, using the label "affiliate link" or "sponsored link."

The existence of an affiliate relationship does not guarantee a positive review. Products are reviewed based on hands-on experience and against publicly available specifications. Negative findings are published regardless of affiliate status.

Always do your own research

The phrase is a cliché, but it's also the entire point of this site's name. Verify claims with primary sources. Read the Bitcoin whitepaper. Read the relevant BIP. Check mempool.space yourself. The tools here should help you understand, not replace your understanding. If something seems off in a tool's output, report it — and in the meantime, verify the math yourself.

Consult a qualified financial advisor, tax professional, or legal advisor before making decisions that materially affect your financial situation.
